Tamil Nadu, India’s leading textile manufacturing hub, contributes significantly to garment exports and provides livelihoods to millions.

The state is home to five key textile clusters. With climate change challenges ahead, the sector is now turning towards circularity.

Under the EU–India Resource Efficiency and Circular Economy Initiative (EU-I RECEI), a pilot project has been launched in Tamil Nadu focusing on textile circularity to promote innovative circular economy business models, encouraging the uptake of recycled content, reuse solutions, and sustainable alternatives.

It will also foster collaboration between European and Indian SMEs to develop long-term, scalable solutions for textiles:
