Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra ModiJi, has approved the Central Sector Scheme titled “Grant-in-Aid to the National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC),” with a financial outlay of ₹2,000 crore for the period 2025–26 to 2028–29. The scheme envisages an annual allocation of ₹500 crore over the four-year duration.

Leveraging this ₹2,000 crore grant, the NCDC will be empowered to mobilise approximately ₹20,000 crore from the open market over the same period, thereby significantly augmenting its capacity to support cooperative initiatives.

The scheme is poised to benefit an estimated 2.9 crore members affiliated with 13,288 cooperative societies operating across diverse sectors including dairy, livestock, fisheries, sugar, textiles, food processing, warehousing and cold storage, as well as labour and women-led cooperatives throughout the country:
