The Shipbuilding Seminar – Nation Building Through Shipbuilding, conducted by the Warship Design Bureau on 23 Jul 25 at Manekshaw Centre, New Delhi, marked a significant milestone with the delivery of the 100th warship designed by WDB.
The keynote address was delivered by Adm Dinesh K Tripathi, Chief of Naval Staff, with participation from senior stakeholders across the Govt of India, Indian Navy, Industry, Academia, Shipyards, and Classification Societies.
The seminar underscored the Indian Navy’s resolve in driving the nation’s self-reliance in indigenous ship design and development. Four technical sessions focusing on policy frameworks, indigenous ship design, emerging technologies, skill development, and strategies to enhance ease of doing business in shipbuilding.
Eminent experts shared insights to strengthen India’s maritime industrial base and transform the ecosystem into a global powerhouse.
The event reaffirmed the Indian Navy’s commitment to innovation, indigenisation and Aatmanir Bharta, aligned with the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047:
