The Crew Dragon ‘Grace’ capsule has successfully splashed down gently in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of California!
– Main chutes deployed on Dragon!
Axiom-4 is moments away from splashing down gently in the Pacific Ocean!
– Drogue chutes deployed on Dragon!
These will slow the vehicle down to about 190 km/h for main chute deployment.
– Crew Dragon is now re-entering the Earth’s atmosphere!
During re-entry, Dragon’s heatshield will experience temperatures upto 1,900Β°C and it’ll slow down from ~28,800 km/h to ~560 km/h prior to drogue chute deployment.
– In about an hour from now, Group Capt Shubhanshu Shukla and the Axiom-4 crew will enter the final phase of their return to Earth
The Crew Dragon capsule will re-enter the Earth’s atmosphere at nearly 8 km/s, withstanding extreme temperatures, followed by deployment of the 2 drogue chutes, and finally the deployment of the 4 main chutes which will bring the vehicle to a soft splashdown in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of California:
