Today marks a historic milestone in the perpetual ethos of cooperation and unity between the esteemed states of Bharat, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.

I am immensely grateful for the gracious gesture of Karnataka Government, in handing over the Kumki elephants to Andhra Pradesh at the prestigious Vidhana Soudha.

This is not just an administrative formality, but a testament of cooperative federalism.

These trained Kumki elephants play a crucial role in mitigating the loss of human lives and crop damage caused by wild elephant attacks resulting from human-wildlife conflict in Andhra Pradesh.

What makes this even more special is the spirit in which it was done. The moment our state raised the proposal, the response from the Karnataka Government was swift, respectful, and above politics.

On behalf of the Government of Andhra Pradesh, I extend heartfelt thanks to the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Karnataka, Sri Siddaramaiah Garu, the Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister, Sri DK Shivakumar Garu, and especially to the Minister for Forest and Environment, Sri Eshwar Khandre Garu, for their unwavering support, cooperation, and key role in facilitating the MoU and ensuring a smooth process.

I firmly believe that this strong bond of friendship and collaboration between both states will continue to flourish in the years to come.
