India achieves a major defence milestone as the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and the Indian Navy successfully conduct the maiden salvo launch of the Naval Anti-Ship Missile (Short Range) from a helicopter platform over the Bay of Bengal.

In this historic test, two missiles were launched in quick succession, demonstrating advanced salvo capability and precision waterline strike performance. The test was monitored using cutting-edge tracking systems at Integrated Test Range Chandipur.

The missile features indigenous technologies including fibre-optic gyroscope-based navigation, advanced avionics, and high-bandwidth data links. Developed by Research Centre Imarat along with multiple DRDO labs, this system significantly boosts India’s naval strike capabilities.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh praised the achievement, calling it a major step toward strengthening India’s defence power.
