India’s highway infrastructure is getting a massive upgrade with the New Khambatki Ghat Twin Tube 6-Lane Tunnel on the Pune-Satara Highway (NH-48). For decades, Khambatki Ghat was known for sharp curves, traffic jams, accidents, and stressful travel.
Now, the new tunnel project by NHAI is transforming this dangerous stretch into a faster, safer, and smoother route. Travel time between Pune and Satara is being cut dramatically, traffic congestion is reducing, and commuters are praising the improved lighting, CCTV cameras, wider lanes, reflectors, and modern safety systems. With 86% progress completed, the project is expected to be inaugurated in 2026.
