Addressing the press on 11 Years of Modi Govt.:

In the last 11 years under the PM Narendra Modi ji led Govt, more than ₹ 6 lakh crore financial assistance has been given to the North East. This amount was just ₹ 1.4 lakh crore in the 10 years of UPA Govt.

PM Modi’s mantra of Transformation via Transportation has empowered the North East and led by the Act East policy – the region is becoming a hub of SE Asia.

We are taking major steps to strengthen economic activity in the North East and give employment opportunities to youths in the maritime sector –

Maritime Centre of Excellence in Dibrugarh to train 50,000 students in the next 10 years

Dedicated dredging for year-round seamless movement of river vessels

We are developing Lighthouses at Pandu, Silghat, Biswanath and Bogibeel. These will be integrated with real-time weather monitoring systems, promoting not just tourism but dynamically changing local weather forecast in Assam.

Global logistics giant Rhenus will also start operating eco-friendly barges on Brahmaputra & Barak by this year.

We are constructing 85 community jetties in the North East to leverage our waterways for enhanced passenger and cargo movement:
